Of the 144 islands that populate the Bay of Islands about 10 of the larger ones are available to walk and explore. Tracks, well formed by NZ Department of Conservation, make exploring the islands a pleasure whilst providing good exercise with their undulating terrain. DOC's "Island Birdsong" project has eradicated pests and vermin from the islands and plant and birdlife are now both prolific and a joy to encounter.
The sea is another medium where life is abundant and the undersea garden a pleasure to the senses. Diving is an option if you're qualified. Be sure to bring your certification and ask us to have a suitable wet suit, etc on board.
Bucket List can take you cruising to the famous "Hole in the Rock" and beyond, if conditions permit, and there are various options, North & South to capture the imagination of the intrepid explorer that you are.
If the tides are right, a journey up the narrow channel of the Kerikeri River is an option. With bush clad hills on either side and many architecturally interesting homes nestled there. The river makes a pleasant diversion up to the Kerikeri Stone Store - the oldest stone building in NZ and now a museum. No other charter boat in the Bay will take you there, but Bucket List will.
